SO Cocktails With – RONIQUE SATCHELL

Wellness and marketing professional

Satchell runs a wellness juice company and a marketing company, and also works with the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation supporting social development initiatives.

Style Observer (SO): How would you describe yourself in a few words?

Ronique Satchell (RS): Passionate, driven, creative, and wellness-focused.

(SO): How have you prepared yourself for today’s road march?

(RS): I’ve been preparing for road march by keeping fit – regular workouts, cardio, and movement so I can handle hours on the road with energy all day. I’ve also been learning every soca tune — which, honestly, feels like an extreme sport on its own.

SO: How many carnivals have you done in Jamaica and/or elsewhere?

RS: I’ve jumped 13 carnivals, including Trinidad! Every year is a new experience — different vibes, different energy, but the love for the road never changes.

SO: What are your suggestions for a first-time reveller?

RS: For first-time revellers, my advice is simple: Pace yourself. It’s a long day ahead! Make sure you drink water between alcoholic drinks, and for the ladies with backpacks, remember your backpack etiquette. Be mindful of everyone around you! Take breaks when you need to, enjoy the music, and soak up every moment on the road.

SO: How long will it take you to get ready?

RS: My make-up usually starts around 5:00 am, as I want to hit the road by 10:00, so it takes about four hours. It’s all worth it! Carnival is about looking and feeling your best, and I love every minute of the prep.

SO: Describe the costume you’ll be wearing.

RS: My costume is Sprint which is track and field-inspired. Think: Speed, first place, and gold vibes. It’s fun, bold, and road-ready!

SO: Who is handling make-up duties ?

RS: My make-up is being done by Makeup by Chello. She’s giving me that soft, glowy glam that’s perfect for the road!

SO: What will you be carrying in your pouch?

RS: My bag will have pain relievers, lip gloss, blotting powder, cash, gum/mints and a travel-size deodorant. The essentials for keeping my glam on point and enjoying the road!

SO: Share a few of your favourite 2026 soca songs.

RS: A few of my favourite 2026 soca songs are Cyah Behave Myself, Respectfully Yours, and Encore!

SO: What’s your all-time favourite Carnival song?

RS: My favourite Carnival song has to be Savannah Grass — it actually takes me back to the year I jumped Carnival in Trinidad! Every time I hear it, I’m instantly on the road, feeling the energy and the vibe.

SO: And your all-time favourite soca star?

RS: When I think of soca, I immediately think of Alison Hinds. She is such an icon and has given us so many timeless tracks that define the vibe of Carnival.

SO: What’s your favourite Appleton cocktail ?

RS: Definitely Appleton Signature Rum Punch. Simple, smooth, and delicious.

SO: How do you unwind after a hectic Carnival week?

RS: Honestly… rest! After a hectic Carnival week, the body needs it. Just rest, recover, and recharge.

SO: Where can we look out for you on the road ?

RS: You can find me on the road with Xodus! Bringing all the energy!
