“I wrote this song because I believe that at some point in your life, you have to look at where you are and the world at large and ask the question: Why are we here?” Wesrok said.

“Which life is the best you can live? By all accounts, instead of doing things that will take you further away from God, it is best to do the things that draw you nearer. It is personally beneficial and can inspire the world.”

Unlike many artistes who describe dramatic religious awakenings, Wesrok says his relationship with Christianity developed gradually through years of introspection, observation and a deepening understanding of faith.

There was no lightning-bolt revelation. No life-altering moment on a proverbial Damascus Road.

Instead, there was a quiet journey. A search. A series of questions that ultimately led him closer to what he describes as an undeniable truth.

“I have come to realise that there is a God and there is a standard in life that you have to emulate and exemplify,” he explained.

“The conclusion is that you have to pull yourself closer to the Creator. No one is perfect. I want to be counted among the persons who recognise that God exists and that He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is our everything.”

While official sales figures are still being finalised, Wesrok says the single generated more than 500 pre-orders before its release, helping propel it onto the US iTunes charts, where it found itself competing alongside established names, including beloved Hawaiian music icon Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.

“I am awaiting the actual sales, but I know we have made over 500 in the preorder stage,” he said.

For Wesrok, whose journey into music began later in life, the achievement represents another significant milestone in a career that continues to gather momentum.

Before stepping onto the stage, he served as a police officer, a profession that exposed him to both the best and worst of human nature. Those experiences, he says, helped shape the themes that now emerge in his songwriting — perseverance, redemption, love and faith.

Five years ago, he made the bold decision to pursue music professionally.

The singer has also demonstrated an ability to move comfortably between genres and collaborations. His catalogue includes songs such as Try to Hold Me, featuring dancehall star Masicka and True Love featuring American reggae-pop band Big Mountain, showcasing his versatility and willingness to experiment musically.

Yet, despite the accolades and growing recognition, Wesrok insists that success means little if it is not accompanied by purpose.
