JUTC reports major traffic pile-up on Mandela Highway
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Commuters travelling into Kingston on the Mandela Highway are this morning locked in traffic due to the high level of water that has settled on sections of the roadway, the JUTC has reported.
This, according to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), in addition to an accident on the Washington Boulevard in St Andrew, has interrupted its service from Spanish Town to Kingston.
“The situation has resulted in late arrivals of JUTC passengers from Spanish Town into Kingston and several other passengers waiting at the transport centre in Spanish Town” the State-owned bus company said in a release.
JUTC Managing Director Colin Campbell in expressing regret about the inconvenience caused by the disruption in the service said that unfortunately it will continue well into the day.
“In light of the fact that we can do nothing about the situation ourselves, we are asking commuters for their patience and hope that the authorities will do their best so that we can return to normal service as soon as possible,” Campbell said.
