Man who claimed cops wanted to kill him shot dead in Clarendon
CLARENDON, Jamaica — A 35-year-old man who claimed that the police attempted to kill him on several occasions was last night shot dead in Sandy Bay, Clarendon.
A police report said that Dwayne Brock was at home about 9:30 pm with relatives when gunmen entered and fired shots, hitting him multiple times. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No one else was hurt in shooting.
Commenting on a June 7 article by the Jamaica Observer, people familiar with Brock have since attributed his killing to police personnel.
“Well, the police shoot him up again and he’s dead now so it’s clearly they want him dead,” one reader alleged. “Them finally kill him,” another commented.
Brock, a father of five, in June told the Observer in an interview from his hospital bed in Spanish Town that, “men who swore to serve and protect” have gone above and beyond to try and cut his life short.
Brock, who was deported from the United States for “overstaying his time”, was shot on three occasions by men he said were police personnel. He said that the last time he was shot he received 12 bullets to the body.
