KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dancehall artiste Popcaan won the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act earlier this evening. The awards ceremony took place at the Leeds’ First Direct Arena in London.
Popcaan, who was not present at the event, beat out other nominees, including Chronixx, Stylo G, Protégé, and OMI.  This was Popcaan’s fourth nomination.
Popcaan impacted the UK music scene this year with hits including ‘Where We come From’ and ‘Bad Inna Real Life’. His 2014 collaborative single ‘Kisses for Breakfast’ with British singer Melissa Steel reached number 10 on the British pop chart.
The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) 'recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music'.
