Trial of x6 businessman set for May 30
KINGSTON, Jamaica —Trial for Patrick Powell regarding his alleged failure to hand over his licensed firearm during a murder investigation, is set to begin on May 30 in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
The trial will run from May 30 to June 1 and June 13 – 15.
Powell was charged in Khajeel Mais murder case for reportedly using the firearm to fatally shoot the teen.
He was arrested for Mais’ murder following allegations that he shot the Kingston College student in the head after the taxi in which Mais was travelling hit his BMW X-6 SUV.
Powell was however freed of that case last year.
During subsequent investigation, it was alleged that Powell, who was served two notices, refused to hand over his licensed firearm to the police for it to be tested and was subsequently charged with breaches of the Firearm Act.
