Two of five in MOCA forgery case denied bail
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two of the five people arrested in the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA) led raid Friday were denied bail when they appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s court a short while ago.
Charged with forgery, uttering forged documents and conspiracy to deceive are:
George Knight, 44 year-old civil engineer and businessman of Ewart Drive, Cherry Gardens, Kingston 8;
Andrew Bobb, 48 year-old, Inspector of Police of Anchovy, Port Antonio, Portland;
Clava Mantock Snr, 62 year-old electrical engineer of Sterling Castle, Red Hills, St. Andrew;
Clava Mantock Jnr, 32 year-old analyst of Musgrave Road, Kingston 5; and Melville Edwards, 40 year-old business manager of Birdsucker Mews, Kingston 8.
Knight and Mantock Jnr were denied bail in relation to 30 rounds of ammunition found at the house of Mantock Jnr. The court was told that the ammunition belonged to Knight.
The other three were offered bail in the sum of $2 million each. They are to return to court on August 4, 2014.
The men were detained on Friday July 25 during an operation by MOCA assisted by other arms of the police force and the Financial Investigation Division of the Ministry of Finance (FID) covering four parishes.
