US customs agents arrest fugitive on flight from the Bahamas
FLORIDA, United States (CMC) – The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency says officers from its Office of Field Operations (OFO) assigned to West Palm Beach, Florida, have arrested a passenger arriving from the Bahamas wanted in Mississippi for a violation of probation for forgery.
On Friday it was reported that Clifton Magee, 45, was fingerprinted and his identity was confirmed.
The Riviera Beach Police Department confirmed the warrant with extradition and took custody of the individual.?“As part of our job of securing the border, CBP intercepts wanted fugitives from all over the country,” said West Palm Beach Port Director Jennifer Connors. “We are committed to keeping America safe.”
CBP said it conducts inspection operations and intercepts currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products, or other illicit items.
On average, CBP said it arrests 22 wanted persons a day at US ports of entry nationwide.
While welcoming and processing all legitimate travelers and trade into this country, CBP said its officers “enforce a host of US laws to keep terrorists and other dangerous persons such as fugitives out of our neighbourhoods”.
