Read Jamaica, a showcase of writers
Howard Pitterson, one of four Jamaican authors to be featured at the launch of the ‘Read Jamaica’ series at the Jamaican Consulate, New York City on October 21.
Organised jointly by Jamaica Information Service office and the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York, and a New York company, Date With A Book (DWAB), the literary heritage festival will showcase new works by writers of Jamaican origin.
To be featured at Friday’s launch are Christopher John Farley (Kingston by Starlight); Donna Hemans (River Woman); Marlon James (John Crow’s Devil) and Howard Pitterson (Spectre of Seven).
The festival’s launch will also spotlight the two-week exhibition of Jamaica’s seven national heroes, which opened at the Jamaican Consulate on Third Avenue October 10. The exhibition closes October 28.
