One dead, four injured in Slipe Pen attack
A woman, identified only as ‘Bidsy’, was killed yesterday and four others injured when armed men opened fire at a motorist travelling along Slipe Pen Road in Kingston.
The woman, who was sheltering from the rain along Slipe Pen Road, was hit by a stray bullet when the gunmen opened fire at a Mazda motor car at the intersection of Alton Villa and Slipe Pen roads.
Among the injured was Tracy Moses, sister of Citibank head, Peter Moses, and a male companion who was travelling with her. Police did not release the names of the other injured persons.
According to the police, Moses and her driver were travelling north along Slipe Pen Road in a black Mazda motor car when a white Toyota motor car, occupied by several armed men, drove up beside them and opened fire indiscriminately.
During the shooting, both occupants and three women at a nearby piazza sheltering from the rain were hit. The armed men then sped away.
The injured persons were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where ‘Bidsy’ was pronounced dead.
