No political work without contracts, NATO urges members
THE National Association of Taxi Operators (NATO) on Friday warned taxi owners and operators against using their vehicles in political campaigns and motorcades without signed contractual agreements.
“We have had reports that several taxies and buses have been damaged during motorcades and no compensation has been made by political representatives,” NATO said in a press release on Friday.
According to the association, while it encourages its members to support their party of choice, there is growing concern about their safety as well as the security of their vehicles.
“Therefore all necessary steps must be taken to ensure your safety,” NATO said, encouraging the operators to ensure persons boarding their vehicles are carying no weapons or illegal substances.
