Canadian High Commission out of commission
THE immigration and visa section of the Canadian High Commission in Kingston will be closed to the general public for a week, until August 27, 2007, a press statement from the Commission announced yesterday.
It said interviews that were scheduled for the week of August 20 through 24 would be rescheduled to a later date and applicants would be contacted for new interview dates.
The statement did not state the reason for the long closure, but it was thought to be related to the passage of Hurricane Dean Sunday night.
“The consular section will remain open to assist Canadian Citizens from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm daily and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday. Canadian Citizens who require emergency consular services after hours can call the High Commission at 926-1500 and follow the prompts to be redirected to the Emergency Operations Centre in Ottawa or call collect to 613-996-8885, it added.
