PNP to hear findings on election performance in December
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The Brian Meeks-led appraisals committee mandated by the People’s National Party (PNP’s) National Executive Council (NEC) to assess the party’s performance in the campaign leading into the recent general elections, is expected to present its findings to the party by the first week in December.
“The NEC had recommended that the committee be given about a month and a half to present its findings because a lot of work will have to be done,” PNP’s deputy general secretary, Julian Robinson, told the Observer.
“The committee will have to look at both the internal and external factors that contributed to our performance,” he added.
Meeks, a University lecturer, was mandated to head the committee at a meeting of the party’s NEC held in Negril recently, the first since its loss to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in the September 2007 general elections.
At that meeting, the NEC also mandated the party to establish a fund-raising committee, appoint a new treasurer and to set up a planning committee for the party’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
