Seba-U eye football final
WHITE HALL, Westmoreland-
Seba United could clinch a place in the mid-season finals of the Captain’s Bakery Western Confederation Super League this Saturday when they take on Negril at the White Hall Housing Scheme field.
Seba United leads the point’s tables with 22 points, and a win on Saturday would take them to 25 points which means they could not finish lower than second place at the end of the round next Wednesday.
Five clubs including Granville FC, Frome FC, defending champions Wadadah and Clarks Town are seeking the two spots in the final.
Two games will be played in Montego Bay tomorrow, Salt Spring and Violet Kickers will meet at Catherine Hall, starting at 3:00 pm and an hour later Mt Salem and Mt Pelier will meet at Jarrett Park.
The other four games to be played Saturday will see Granville hosting Grange Hill, Clarks Town meeting Frome at Hyde and Wadadah and Bamboo meeting at the UDC field.
Seba is seeking their fourth straight win and eighth overall but will come up against an improving Negril team that won their last two games to claw their way off the bottom of the tables.
Seba has potentially the best team on paper, what with former national captain and present national assistant coach Theodore Whitmore, Wilfred Smith, Ricardo Geddes and Kemar James.
Second-placed Frome on 20 points will seek to inch closer to their first ever mid-season spot when they travel to face Clarks Town at Hyde.
Clarks Town is on 14 points and their chances are slim at the very best and they must win to keep their hopes alive.
Granville on 18 points should get the better of Grange Hill at the Sam Sharpe Teachers College to stay in the race.
Defending champions Wadadah who are on 15 points, must win against Bamboo if they hope to advance to the mid-season finals but must hope other results go their way as well.
