Bridgeport secure last qualification spot for Manning Cup second round

Bridgeport High defeated Greater Portmore High 2-1 on Saturday to secure the last qualification spot for the ISSA Manning Cup second round.

With the win, Bridgeport not only booked their ticket for the next round, theyl also eapfrogged Holy Trinity into second spot in Group A with 12 points. Holy Trinity, which had already qualified, finished third in the group on 10 points. Camperdown High topped the group with maximum 18 points. Greater Portmore missed out in fourth spot on seven points.

So, the first round of the ISSA Manning Cup has been completed and the second-round groups have been decided as the seeded teams will bow in action on Wednesday.

Group 1 consists of Jamaica College, St Catherine High, Wolmer’s Boys, Campion College, Camperdown High and Jose Marti High.

Defending champion Excelsior High lead Group 2 alongside Charlie Smith High, Calabar High, St Jago, Norman Manley and Holy Trinity.

Group 3 will see the return of the North Street battle between Kingston College and St George’s College and will include Tivoli Gardens High, Edith Dalton James High, Penwood High and St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS).

Group 4 consists of Mona High, Eltham High, Bridgeport High, Vauxhall High, Denham Town High and Hillel Academy.

There will be 12 games on Wednesday:

Jose Marti High vs Campion College
Jamaica College vs St Catherine High
Wolmer’s Boy svs Camperdown High
Holy Trinity High vs Charlie Smith High
Excelsior vs St Jago
Calabar vs Norman Manley
Penwood vs Kingston College
STATHS vs St George’s College
Tivoli Gardens vs Edith Dalton James
Denham Town vs Mona High
Eltham High vs Hillel Academy
Vauxhall High vs Bridgeport High
