Ten cops remembered in western Jamaica
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The lives of 10 policemen who served Trelawny, St James, Westmoreland and Hanover, and who died in the last 12 months were remembered at the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s 142nd annual commemorative and memorial service yesterday.
The service at the Family Church on the Rock in Reading, St James, was one of many staged across the island in memory of the total 49 cops who have died within the last year.
Speaking to the theme “Committed to the cause of transformation”, Pastor Richard Keane advised the police that they would have to transform themselves before they could expect to effect change in Jamaican communities. He also encouraged them to shun fear in favour of becoming the leaders in keeping with the will of God. “Each of you is a leader in your own right and God wants to use you in a mighty way,” he said.
Those remembered by their colleagues in JCF’s Area One – which covers Trelawny, St James, Westmoreland and Hanover – were:
. Detective Sergeant Andrew Reid – Area One HQ;
. Special Corporal Anthony Simpson – Westmoreland;
. Corporal Charles Muckler – St James;
. Constable Alaric Robinson – St James;
. Detective Sergeant Harold Anderson – St James;
. Corporal James Christie – Trelawny;
. Constable Lennox Dawkins – St James;
. Constable Mark Cameron – St James;
. Constable Mark Hamilton – Westmoreland; and
. Corporal Martin Ricketts – Westmoreland.
