Prayer for Haiti

Dear Editor,

My sympathy goes out to the people of Haiti which has been devastated by the January 12 earthquake. I am happy that Prime Minister Bruce Golding led a delegation to that country along with the Leader of the Opposition to have a look at the situation.

I grieve for the people because my love is with them and will always be with them, by the continuing help of Almighty God.

I want all Jamaicans to see what has been happening in that country over the past week and see how God is blessing our nation in a special way. We must be thankful for His mercy. Those who murder wantonly must stop it and live in love and unity with our brothers and sisters. Haiti is close to us, and God has spared us. Let us live in love.

I am calling on the churches to pray for Haitians so the hands of God can work wonders for them. And I offer this prayer for them:

Almighty God, You are the One and Only Father of us all when we call on You in so many special ways, especially now at a time of great disaster. Hear the prayers of this nation for the people of Haiti in Your grace and love, so that peace and joy will return to that country and the people will know that You are the Only God of hope. Through Jesus Christ our Lord who gave His blood for us on the cross.
