Rural Area netball finalists to be decided today
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — The Holmwood Technical/Herbert Morrison match-up will highlight the semi-finals of the ISSA/Digicel Rural Area schoolgirl netball competitions as they come face to face in both divisions at the St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) today.
Defending Senior and Junior League champions Holmwood have so far been in rampant form and will start favourites against the Montego Bay-based Herbert Morrison.
On their way to the semis, neither have tasted defeat, but it was the Carlene Graham-coached Manchester-based girls who have been more potent, winning all of their games by more than 12 points.
Former champions Herbert Morrison had to fight hard to seal their berths in the semi-finals, beating Glenmuir High 19-17 in Senior League, and Manning’s School 22-20 in the Juniors, but are themselves expected to push Holmwood to the limit.
In the other semi-finals, also to be played at STETHS, Denbigh High will tip off against Manning’s School in the Senior League, after taking on surprise package Belfield High in the Junior League.
Denbigh topped Titchfield High to reach the semi-finals in both categories, while Belfield upset Glenmuir to book their place.
Matches will get underway at 1:00 pm.
