Gallimore to visit bus stop accident victims
JUNIOR minister of labour and social security Andrew Gallimore today expressed regret at the gruesome deaths of two women who were mowed down at a bus stop in Liguanea in St Andrew yesterday.
The dead women have been identified as 54-year-old Joanna Scarlett of Stephen Street, in Allman Town, and Esmeralda Evans, 60, of New Lincoln Road in Kingston 5.
In a statement today Gallimore said he would be visiting five other persons who were hospitalised in the crash. The seven were awaiting public transport when the car plowed into them pinning down Scarlett and Evans.
In the meantime the Matilda’s Corner police say they will be charging the driver of the ill-fated Toyota Avalon with dangerous driving.
The Jamaica fire Brigade is also probing allegations that the fire fighters who were quick on the scene of the accident were less than professional in their attempts to rescue the injured.
