Quick and Easy Dispenser
Food Network ‘s Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, is one of my favourite shows, because her beautiful kitchen is to me as appealing as her food. If you are familiar with the show you will see these wonderful jars she keeps on the counter with her flour, sugar etc. I LOVE that idea but decided to take it a bit further and keep different types of the same item in each jar, like wholewheat and white flour, brown and white rice, or different types of pasta. However, in order to do this, the items would need to be separated, and so I came up with the idea of creating a dispenser of sorts to create segments in the jar, using a (food safe) cake board.
For this project you will need:
o A square cake board at least twice the width of the jar OR two boards the same width of the jar.
o A round cake board the size of the mouth of the jar.
o Scissors
You will then:
o Cut two boards the height and width of the inside of the jar.
o Cut the centre of each board halfway up the centre, making the cut wide enough to fit said board (pictured).
o Fit boards together in an X (pictured), to create four sides.
o Fit X inside the jar.
o Cut a quarter out of the round cake board and fit it into the top of the jar (pictured). It is through this slot that you will dispense your desired staple.
