Bolt, Ashmeade reach men’s 200m final
JAMAICA’s Usain Bolt and Nikael Ashmeade today came through their semi-finals to qualify for the final of the men’s 200 metres at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
However, compatriot Mario Forsythe failed to advance.
Defending champion Bolt cruised to a winning time of 20.31 seconds in heat two. Meantime, Ashmeade finished second with 20.32 in heat one.
Forsythe finished third in heat three with 20.63 but his time was not fast enough to earn qualification as a fastest loser.
Also qualifying automatically for the final were Christophe Lemaitre of France, Jaysuma Saidy Ndure of Norway, Walter Dix of the United States and Alonso Edward of Panama.
Bruno de Barros of Brazil and Rondel Sorrillo of Trinidad qualified as fastest losers.
The final will be run tomorrow at 7:20 am Jamaican time.
