ALTHOUGH few persons adorned in their green Jamaica Labour Party shirts dotted the streets in some sections of West Kingston, voter turnout is said to be no where as close to what it has been previously.
At one polling station in Tivoli Gardens only 200 persons had voted in all four divisions five hours after the polling stations opened.
Jamaica Labour Party outdoor agent Veronica Sewell Morgan said there has not been the usual high turnout.
“It is slower than normal and I don’t know if it will get any better throughout the day,” she said, adding that the turnout was also low for the December 29 General Elections.
The outdoor agents milled around as there were no voters in sight when the Observer visited at midday.
However unlike some of the other pollings stations such as those visited in Port Royal and Rae Town there was no heavy security presence.
