Jason Morgan breaks discus national record
JAMAICA’S Jason Morgan broke the National Record in the discus throw for the second time in just under six weeks today when he threw 67.15m at a meeting at the University of Louisiana, Monroe.
Morgan had attained the Olympic games A qualifying standard of 65m last month when he threw 65.61m at the Leon Johnson Invitational at the Walter P Ledet Track Complex on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana on Good Friday, April 6.
Today’s throw saw him move 11 places up to third on the IAAF performance ranking behind Hungarian Zoltan Kovago-68.21m and Poland’s Piotr Malachowski- 67.53m, the latter set in Doha at the IAAF Diamond League meeting on Friday.
