Edwin Allen girls cop sprint relay in New York

MONTEGO BAY, St James —

 Edwin Allen High school girls’ 4x100m team beat compatriots Vere Technical high to win the Junior Girls 4x100m relays at yesterday’s Adidas Grand Prix Diamond League meet at the Icahn Stadium in New York.

The team that consisted of Christania Williams, Shawnette Lewin, Saqukine Cameron and Claudette Allen, clocked 44.78 seconds to hold off Vere Tech (45.51 seconds) with Interstate TC third in 46.83 seconds.

St Elizabeth Technical High were third in the Junior Boys 4x400m in 3:17.66 behind Christian Brothers (3:15.73) and Union Catholic TC (3:16.36).

Meanwhile, two-time CARIFTA Games Under-20 1090m champion Jazeel Murphy was second in the Junior Boys 100m in 10.47 seconds, edged by Levonte Whitfield, who ran 10.43 seconds, with another American third in 10.54 seconds.
