Katie Holmes denies filing for emergency custody hearing

Katie Holmes has denied reports she filed for an emergency custody and child support following news she is divorcing Tom Cruise.

Her lawyer released a statement this week following claims she had asked a judge for an ’emergent application’ which would have seen her come face to face with Tom for the first time since their split was announced earlier this week ago.

HollywoodLife.com has claimed that Katie’s attorney Allan Mayefsky filed for the custody and child support hearing this week. Tom is being represented by one of Los Angeles top divorce lawyers Dennis Wasser. Katie’s fears that daughter Suri was set to be inducted into a hardcore Scientology organisation were the driving force behind the end of her marriage to Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

Meanwhile, Katie refers to entering a ‘new phase’ in her life, in an interview that is set to be published in the July edition of Elle magazine. The interview was conducted in May, just six weeks before last week’s divorce announcement.

According to the New York Daily News, when asked about being in her 30s, the actress says: “I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin.” Asked about her identity as Mrs Tom Cruise, she says. “He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”

Oprah embroiled in family feud after buying father’s barbershop

As America’s best known chat show host Oprah Winfrey has counselled dozens of people on her couch. But the multimillionaire is facing problems of her own after becoming embroiled in a bitter row with her stepmother. Barbara Winfrey, who is married to Oprah’s father Vernon, has accused the billionaire chat show host of forcing her out of her husband’s life. She claims Oprah has used her fortune to take control of the barbershop Vernon Winfrey has run for more than 50 years.

And now the 78-year-old has filed for divorce as the row over ownership of the barbershop threatens to tear apart the Winfrey family. The store in Nashville, Tennessee, was bought by Oprah last week after going into foreclosure. She paid $475,000 for the property when it was put up for auction. Barbara Winfrey said the purchase means the chat show host, who now runs her own YV network, has gained control of the business and cut her out. ‘I know what is going on. I’m tired of it, and I’ve had enough,’ Barbara Winfrey told WSMV TV in Nashville. Barbara and her 78-year-old husband opened the barber shop a year ago to replace a store at a nearby location.

But the couple apparently fell behind on their mortgage payments and the red brick building went into foreclosure. Barbara told the local media that Oprah was controlling her father. “He believes what he’s told. His daughter doesn’t care about the community. His daughter doesn’t care about the barbershop. But I do,” Barbara Winfrey said. WSMV said they had confirmed that Oprah, who is worth an estimated $2.7billion, paid $475,000 for the barbershop.
