KINGSTON, Jamaica – Forty-one-year-old Glenford Blake, otherwise called ‘Charlie’, a labourer of Cotton Tree Gully in Hayes, Clarendon was charged with one count of unlawful wounding and two counts of malicious destruction of property by detectives last night.

Reports from the Hayes Police are that about 10:30 pm, Blake returned home to see his house on fire. The Police were summoned and a unit from the May Pen Fire Department extinguished the blaze. The loss is estimated at $2.5 million. It is not yet known if the two-bedroom house was insured.

According to information garnered by the Hayes Police, it is alleged that Blake then sought refuge at the house of a female friend. However, an argument developed between him and the woman; a knife came into play and she was stabbed. The woman was assisted to hospital, where she was admitted in stable condition.

Blake was subsequently arrested and was later charged by investigators. He is to appear before the Lionel Town Resident Magistrate Court on Friday, September 28.
