Muschett best St James in U-16 basketball
MUSCHETT High, last season’s beaten finalists, hammered St James High, 104-12, at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Thursday as they got their ISSA/KFC Western Conference Under-16 campaign underway.
Four players, led by Karlington Barrett’s game high 32 points, scored in double figures for the Trelawny school, who also won the Under-19 game, 66-14, for a sweep on the day.
Muschett dominated the Under-16 game, leading 24-2, 48-2 and 68-10, at the intervals as only Aaron Allen with seven points made any worthwhile contribution for the home team.
In addition to his 32 points, Barrett also had nine rebounds. Obrian Clarke scored 18 points and had 14 rebounds. Lamon Thompson also scored 18 points, while Djair Bulgin scored 14 points.
In the Under-19 game, Michael Schloss led Muschett with 16 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots; Trevor Mowatt scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds, while Alston Billings scored 14 points.
On Friday, Green Pond also swept Rhodes Hall, winning the Under-19 match by forfeiture after the visitors failed to field a team, them took the Under-16 game, 27-25.
Othneil Service with eight points was the best scorer for Green Pond, while Shemir Dawkins and Clevon Coke both scored six points, and Jerome Foster had a game high 14 points for the losers, for whom Lothian Samuels also scored seven points.
Defending Under-19 champions Cornwall College will seek a second straight win tomorrow when they take on Green Pond at Montego Bay Cricket Club, while Spot Valley will host Herbert Morrison in two games.
