Out of this world!

She has been showing off her baby bump in a number of fitted ensembles while filming the hit show Modern Family. But Sofia Vergara opted for an unconventional maternity style in a new episode screened in the United States on Wednesday. The 40-year-old got in character to play pregnant Gloria Delgado-Pritchett at a Halloween bash and seemed to be channelling an alien. Sofia donned a shiny green catsuit which emphasised her fake baby bump, teaming it with a long glittery cape. Covering her lips in light green lipstick and propping alien-style antlers on her head, the brunette was otherwise glammed up with slick wavy locks as well as bracelets and a ring on her finger. During the episode, Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) host a costume party while contending with their daughter Lily wondering who her real mother is. They can both be seen in eye-catching gear for the featured October 31 party. Gloria’s pregnancy hormones are on overdrive, making her even more hot-headed than usual. The actress is clearly excited for fans to see her in the stand-out get-up. She tweeted: “New new Modern Family Holloweeeen episode tonight!!!” She wasn’t the only one to wear themed attire for the episode. In the episode titled ‘Open House of Horrors’, Claire (Julie Bowen) has overdone it on past Halloween celebrations and the neighbours definitely don’t share her enthusiasm. So this year she is being forced to tone it down and keep it ‘kid-friendly,’ and her husband Phil (Ty Burrell) has an idea to hold an open house on Halloween night.

A hard day’s work on the Ark?

Russell Crowe is known for throwing himself into his roles, and his latest film is no different. The 48-year-old is playing Noah in the latest big-screen adaptation of one of the Bible’s greatest stories — and he’s certainly at pains to make his character’s journey on the famed Ark as realistic as possible. The actor sported a full grey beard and bushy wig as he was spotted on the set of the eagerly awaited biblical blockbuster Noah. The bulked-up actor appeared in a pensive mood as the strode purposefully around the New York set, wearing tattered clothes to complete the scruffy look. He had previously been seen on set with a shaved head, but it looks like we’ve caught Russell filming on one of Noah’s latter days on the Ark. Crowe is playing the titular hero in Darren Aronofsky’s forthcoming epic, which tells the story of Noah’s divine mission to build an Ark to save every species on animal before the earth is flooded. The epic movie, which is reported to have a budget of £78 million, boasts a star-studded cast, which includes Ray Winstone, Emma Watson and Crowe’s A Beautiful Mind co-star Jennifer Connelly. The story has reportedly been given a new twist, and it will be set in modern times. It will be Aronofsky’s first film after the Oscar-winning ballet drama Black Swan — and is scheduled for release on March 28, 2014. Despite the recent sad news that he’s split with Danielle Spencer, his wife of nine years, Crowe has retained his humour.

Tom Cruise launches $50m lawsuit against Life&Style magazine

Tom Cruise has filed a $50million defamation lawsuit against the publishers of Life&Style magazine for articles that said the actor has abandoned his six-year-old daughter, Suri. The actor’s attorney, Bert Fields, said to falsely claim the actor deserted his daughter is a ‘vicious lie’. “Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She’s a vital part of his life and always will be,” Fields said. “To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible.” The lawsuit was filed in a Los Angeles federal court. An email message left for a spokeswoman for Bauer Publishing, which produces Life & Style, was not immediately returned. Cruise and Suri’s mother, Katie Holmes, divorced earlier this year. They had been married for six years. The breakup has been tabloid fodder, and Suri often appears in entertainment magazines. Cruise doesn’t like to file lawsuits but felt it was appropriate because ‘sleaze peddlers’ are trying to make money about the actor’s relationship with his daughter, Fields said. “These serial defamers are foreign-owned companies with their global headquarters in Hamburg,” Fields said. “They take money from unsuspecting Americans by selling their malicious garbage. Having to pay a libel judgment may slow them down.” If Cruise prevails, Fields said his client would give the money to charity.
