Sound Ruption for Sunday
JAMAICA’S top auto sound system operators and motorsports mavericks will come together in a marathon day and night event in St James on Sunday.
The event, billed Sound Ruption — The Elimination Edition, is scheduled for Scott’s Auto on Churchill Avenue in the tourist capital.
Patrons will be entertained with drifting and biking exhibitions before the 2:00 pm showdown.
Four hours later, auto soundsystems will face-off in the in “45” and “Dub Fi Dub” categories.
Event organiser Kingsley Scott told Auto competitors are vying to be one of seven finalists in the next round in 2013.
“The 45 shoot-out segment will be exciting and we expect the “Dub Fi Dub” segment to be a gruelling showdown. Bad Influence from St Catherine is the defending champion in the “Dub Fi Dub” category after defeating hot favourite and back-to-back champion Naseeve from Portmore in the first leg of the competition earlier this year,” said Scott.
According to Scott, competitors will be from a wide cross section of the island’s top auto sounds. They include: City Fusion and Yumi Hi Power from Kingston; St James-based Ruption and HiFonics; and Love People from Clarendon.
Drivers Cleve ‘Cutta Hype’ Ottey, Dennis ‘Krossbreed’ Bicarie, Kingsley Scott, Randall ‘Rambo’ Singh, Sanjay Singh, and Jamar ‘Sckoolaz’ Kinkead are expected to put on a great show.
Rush Riders’ Damion ‘Dunga’ Hughes, Romond Gichie and Ricardo ‘RP’ Parkinson are to perform their death-defying stunts.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the medical expenses for Toyan Jones, an avid motorsports fan, who is in hospital.
