Criminals plague Queensborough, St Andrew community
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Residents of Queensborough and surrounding St Andrew communities this morning raised concern over what they describe as an outbreak of robberies and housebreaking occurring in the area.
Residents complain that over the last two weeks at least three robberies have taken place in the once peaceful community.
The most recent took place this morning along McField Avenue where a woman was held up and robbed.
“Reports we received are that at about 1:00 am criminals went to the home and held up the female,” police from the St Andrew North Police Division confirmed.
The criminals stole several items including cellular phones and appliances before making their escape.
Police have since launched an investigation in the matter.
Just over two weeks ago a retired superintendent of police, 63-year-old Denzil Boyd was shot and killed in the community.
The police reported that about 10:45 am, Boyd had just returned home from church when he was engaged in conversation by men at his gate after which loud explosions were heard.
It was later reported that his licensed firearm was stolen.
