Modern sailor-inspired design wins Mission Catwalk Episode 3
The studios of Mission Catwalk were heated on episode three, as the contest got fiercer for the remaining designers. Coming off the menswear challenge in the previous episode, the competing designers were placed in groups to design a luxury resort-wear mini collection. The collections on the Caribbean’s premiere design reality show were to be inspired by: Sunset Paradise, Dawn to Dusk or Treasure Box Fantasy. The anxious, budding fashion- designing contestants completed their finished looks for the resident judges: Carlton Brown, Novia McDonald-Whyte and host Keneea Linton-George.
Winning team
Twenty-four-year old T&T-born Elizabeth Jerimie won the challenge. Beaming with joy at the unexpected win, Jerimie shared: “I was excited and very happy for my team and myself for finally winning a challenge, even though it was a shared victory. It was a victory nonetheless.” The winning team was inspired by Jewel Treasure Box. “Our team had the story of female sailors stranded on a Grecian island circa mid-17th century. We thought of the shirts that sailors wore from that time period as well as the found treasure and elements of draping from Grecian wear,” Elizabeth adds. “We chose stretch cotton and chiffon for ease of wear. The cuts and silhouette that we used were selected because of its versatility for different body types.” The winning elements from the team won Elizabeth her first challenge on the show. Mission Catwalk turned off the sewing lights of Jamaican Katherine McDermott, who was eliminated from the show.
