Seven J’cans compete in Doha Diamond League today
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Seven Jamaicans will take to the field today to compete in the first Diamond League track meet for the year being held in Doha, Qatar.
Olympic gold medallist Shelly- Ann Fraser Pryce and teammates Samantha Henry Robinson and Sherone Simpson are scheduled to compete in the women’s 200m.
Fraser-Pryce enters the race with a season’s best of 22.83 seconds.
Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare currently holds the world leading time, 22.31 seconds, set last month.
Nesta Carter will compete in the men’s 100m with teammates Jason Young and Jaques Harvey coming up against Justin Gatlin from the United States and Kim Collins of St Kitts.
Sherika Williams is the only Jamaican in the women’s 400m today, entering with a personal best time of 49.32 seconds, the fastest time in the field. USA’s Allyson Felix and reigning world champion Amantle Monthso will also compete.
