Manchester man to appear in court today on multiple charges
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Sixty-nine-year-old Eugene Rhodes of Knowles Crescent in Mandeville, Manchester who is facing multiple charges stemming from an incident at his home last Friday, in which he allegedly shot and injured his estranged wife and killed a pedestrian as he tried to escape in his motor car is scheduled to appear in the Mandeville Resident Magistrate’s Court to answer to charges of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Reports received from the Mandeville Police are that Rhodes allegedly attacked and shot his wife. The police were alerted and he reportedly attempted to escape in his Toyota Altis motor car, at which time 72-year-old Herbert Samuels of the same community, who was walking along the roadway, was allegedly hit. Samuels later died at hospital on Saturday, October 12.
He has been warned with prosecution in relation to the traffic incident, which is being investigated by the Mandeville Traffic Department.
