Muschett seek second win in KFC basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Muschett High School, defending champions in both sections of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference high school boys’ basketball competition, will be seeking their second win when they travel to Montego Bay Cricket club to face St James High today.
Muschett High are coming off wins over William Knibb last week, while St James High are still looking for their first in either section, after they were beaten by Spot Valley last week and had their games against Cornwall College put off on Saturday.
Also today, Herbert Morrison will make their first appearance when they host William Knibb at Bogue.
Holland High and Spot Valley, meanwhile, shared their games on Saturday; Spot Valley trounced Holland by 50 points (62-12) in the Under-16 section as the home team suffered their second straight big loss, but turned it around to win the Under-19 game 50-42.
Desran Harris and Shamar Bucknor combined for 46 points as Spot Valley dominated the Under-16 game leading by 10 points after the first quarter (14-4) and were up 42-4 at half-time. They added another seven points in the third quarter as Holland failed to score in the second and third quarters.
Harris led all scorers with 24 points, Bucknor scored 22 points, while Jhamonique Brown scored 13 points and had seven rebounds.
Holland High, the runners- up last season who were beaten in their opening game, bounced back to beat Spot Valley as Hugh Smith scored 14 points to lead the winners.
Gian Grey scored 11 points as well for Holland as Alwyn Newsome got a double-double 14 points and 12 rebounds as well as five blocked shots for Spot Valley. while Teavardo Daley also scored 14 points.
