The 50 Most Fashionable Moments

Fashionable moments came fast and furious in 2013. From the runways of fashion capitals and haute events hosted on our shores, to fashion-savvy personalities and major celebs doing The Rock — the moments are far too many to count. We’ve somehow managed to whittle them down to the 50 that made us stop and applaud. And, what better way to kick-start those moments than by showing off Saint International model Raschelle Osbourne between the pages of the January 2014 edition of South Africa Grazia?

1. Giving Good Face

Leggy Saint International model Raschelle Osbourne, a fave catwalker for designers at New York and London Fashion Weeks, is getting face time in January 2014’s South African Grazia.

2. KAI NEWMAN FOR GUCCI

Talk about a fashionable debut! Saint International model neophyte Kai Newman made quite the impression in her catwalk introduction to the fashion capitals, walking for Gucci at Milan Fashion Week.

3. BEYONCE & SOLANGE SIP RED STRIPE ON THE ROCK

Queen ‘B’ — one of the world’s biggest celebs — and sis Solange enjoyed some R&R in Portie at Trident Hotel in November, sharing their love for Red Stripe on Instagram.

4. NMW GRACES US Airways Magazine COVER & MEETS UMA

Our trailblazing lifestyle doyenne NMW made the September cover of US Airways, after a chance encounter with a photojournalist on assignment at Round Hill. A month later, Herself rubbed shoulders with Academy Award-nominated actress and Hollywood icon Uma Thurman in Italy at the launch of the 2014 Campari calendar, in which Thurman stars.

5. LUCA AND MINA MEET ANNA WINTOUR

Style Observer contributors Luca Khouri and Mina K Rob were front-row at the Ralph Lauren show in the Big Apple back in September. Who else was there? American Vogue and fashion influencer Anna Wintour!

6. HAUTE COUTURIER ISABELLE KRISTENSEN STUNS AT HANOVER GRANGE

The Rock’s finest fashion showcase in years was delivered by Danish-born haute couturier Isabell Kristensen in November with her Jamaican-inspired Dusk To Dawn collection at the uber-luxe Tryall abode of Andrew and Theresa Roberts.

7. BRAD ALLEN FOR DSQUARED2

Nothing’s better for a model than snagging a high-end advertising campaign. Saint International’s Brad Allen (at left) checked it off his model bucket list when he starred in a Dsquared2’s Fall/Winter ad, alongside Madonna’s ex Brahim Zaibat (centre).

8. IN LIKE FLYNN

Genetically blessed lovebirds Luke Flynn and Nicole ‘Sky’ Grey starred in a gloriously fab SO fashion editorial shot in August by our Luca Khouri in Portland.

9. AMOS WINBUSH III

Technology titan Amos Winbush III — CyberSynchs CEO and founder — was spotted checking out Page 2 at Round Hill Hotel and Villas. We spotted (and loved) his spiked, red Christian Louboutins.

10. MARK DAECHE & AMANDA CRONIN

Making the acquaintance of Mark Daeche, founder and chief executive officer of First Utility, and his former model wife Amanda Cronin — in an Alessandra Rich dress, Stephen Webster jewellery and pink Christian Louboutin heels — at a birthday party for MOBO awards founder Kanya King at Andrew and Theresa Roberts’ Hanover Grange home in February made an instant fashion memory.

11. TAMARA WARD’S BIRTHDAY MOMENT

Wisynco’s Coca-Cola Country Manager Tamara Ward turned heads at her birthday do at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel Regency Bar and Lounge in a Flowerchild 1999-designed black romper and newly styled tresses by Neah Lis and Adolph Raynor in October.

12. AYANA’s DRESS IS A ‘ROLLING STONE’

Rock-based up-and-coming fashion designer Ayana Rivere was in-between the pages of Rolling Stone — or, her design talents to be more pointed. Regine Chassagne, one of the lead singers of the Grammy Award-winning rock band Arcade Fire, fell in love with a dress worn by Rivere after meeting her at Trident Castle where her group was recording tracks for their new album. The dress in question slid onto Chassagne’s bod, and into photos of the band shot by Rivere’s beau Storm Saulter that appeared in the October 24 issue of the music mag.

13. KACI’s WAY

In SO’s ode to the kick-off of the annual globetrotting Fashion Week marathon, we assembled the city’s trendsetters to show us looks they’d rock to sit front-row at designer collections, and found a fashionista par excellence: Kaci Fennell.

14. ESCALES OPENS

The nautical-inspired lifestyle brand Escales Paris opened its luxe boutique for business in September at Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel. Cue the squealing delight!

15. ‘BROWN’-IE POINTS

Carlton Brown’s chic, clean-cut threads are de rigueur for the man looking to make that definitive statement. The Mission Catwalk judge continued to be seen in wardrobes everywhere in 2013.

16. JENEIL FOR EDUN

It’s another banner for Pulse supermodel Jeneil Williams. Jean-Paul Gaultier ad campaign? Check. Vogue and ELLE fashion editorials? Check. Runway appearances in New York, Paris and London? Check. All mighty impressive; we, however, most loved her striking Edun ad campaign.

17. THEODORE ELYETT WINS MISSION CATWALK

After The Rock scored two wins on our home turf, Bahamian Theodore Elyett takes the crown as Mission Catwalk’s Season Three Winner.

21. SARA LAWRENCE BECOMES L’OREAL AMBASSADOR

Sara Lawrence is signed as L’Oréal Regional Ambassador for L’Oréal Paris for the Caribbean.

22. DIDDY IN H-W-T

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… no, it’s pop culture and business titan Diddy, causing major frisson in Half-Way-Tree in January with his surprise ‘Bad Boy Clash’ music-themed appearance!

23. A SCANDAL-OUS AFFAIR

Stylish Scandal devotees gather to trade plot-line theories and fashion notes atop super-comfy beds at Furnitureland for a ladies-only viewing party of the hit ABC political soap.

24. FACE VALUE

Pulse supermodels Jaunel McKenzie and Kimanee Wilson, decade-long veterans in the fashion biz, combine their talents to launch a brand-new company, FACE Model Development, for new and up-and-coming models. SO contributor Luca Khouri is on-location in New York to shoot the entrepreneurial pair.

25. IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!

Rum Fire marketing exec Christelle Harris rocked a super-sexy, bedazzled Jovani dress at her 30th birthday do in June.

26. THE GIRL CAN’T HELP IT

The ebony skin, the unmistakable smile and, of course, her modernist aesthetic have made Shala Monroque the darling of the international fashion media. SO caught up with the creative director of Garage magazine — the style crush everybody loves to love — in August.

27. YES, HE CAN

TLC star Randy Fenoli, of Say Yes To The Dress fame, was on The Rock for Kingston Bridal Week, and had our shutterbug clicking at the sight of his silk fil coupé jacket and tuxedo shirt of his own design, Gucci bow tie, Dior Homme pants and Gucci shoes, at a dinner hosted in his honour at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel by the Hussey family.

28. SHENA MOULTON IN TEEN VOGUE

Saint’s Shena Moulton keeps racking up major editorial credits, appearing this year in a Macy’s advertorial in Teen Vogue (above) and a Condé Nast Christmas-themed advertorial in American GQ and Vogue.

29. ‘PATRICK’ DAY!

Effortlessly stylish business boldface Patrick Casserly had us feeling serious buyer’s envy when we eyed his Christian Louboutin shoes at a dinner party.

30. THE CHOPARD EXPERIENCE

Bijoux’s celebratory soirée to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Chopard’s Happy Sport luxe timepiece brought out enthusiasts of the Swiss luxury jewellery and accessory maker two weeks ago. Selective Homes exec administrative manager Pauline Edie showed off her just-bought Chopard bracelet to our lens at the launch event.

31. THE ‘V’ FACTOR

The Hennessy V party — hosted in November at the Sagicor parking lot in New Kingston — was an intersection of downtown-meets-uptown fashion sensibilities that sent our flashbulbs into overdrive.

The exciting sights and sounds of Trinidad’s Carnival, as per usual, afforded style moments a-plenty!

36. THE STYLE AWARDS RETURNS

The Style Awards returned in fab form at the uber-hot Regency Bar and Lounge, after a two-year hiatus, to celebrate the city’s style influencers.

37. SHANEKE DOES HARPER’S BAZAAR

Saint International’s Shaneke Guyher dons kaleidoscopic, quirky, dramatic, but altogether fashionably brilliant, looks for a fashion editorial for Harper’s Bazaar China.

38. SET TO SIZZLE

Barely wearing anything, but emanating undeniable sex appeal, former Ralph Lauren model and Pulse star Oraine Barrett sizzled in a D-Section magazine editorial.

47. Forever & Always

Clad in a Burberry tux, music mogul Jon Baker tied the knot with singer belle Nordia Witter, in a Kara Karosa-designed couture wedding gown that featured pearls and Swarvoski crystals, at Trident Castle earlier this month.

48. My One & Only

Dapper in Carlton Brown threads, real estate developer Karl Tulloch and realtor belle Billie Jean Constantine, in a gorgeous strapless Casablanca gown, culminated their decade-long romance in matrimonial bliss at Craighton Estate in Irish Town this month.
