KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says it is now implementing scheduled lock offs in the Corporate Area as the water in storage facilities serving the city have reached critical levels.

The company is reporting falling storage levels at its major facilities including the Hermitage Dam/Constant Spring Treatment Plant and Mona Reservoir/Mona Treatment Plant and Chancery Hall Water Supply System in St Andrew. 

Measures are being put in place to effect a drought-mitigation plan, which will result in reduced hours of water supply to a number of customers in Kingston and St Andrew, the NWC said in a statement Friday. 

Customers served by the Constant Spring treatment plant, Norbrook Tank and Chancery Hall systems will experience nightly restrictions in their water supply. 

The following areas supplied by the Constant Spring and Chancery Hall systems will have water between 4:00 am and 10:00 pm until further notice.

Constant Spring:

Constant Spring Road and all roads off, Constant Spring Gardens, Dunrobin Avenue and all roads leading off, Cassia Park, sections of Washington Boulevard, Red Hills Road and all roads leading off, Roehampton, Mannings Hill Road and all roads off.

Chancery Hall:

Communities of Meadowbrook, Havenmeade, Smokeyvale, Ursa Major, Belgrade Heights, WestMeade, Chancery Hall, Mannings Hill Road and Havendale.

Meanwhile Norbrook, which is served by the Norbrook Tank, will have supply between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm.
