Kingston Police charge five for murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Kingston and St Andrew Major Investigation Taskforce (KSAMIT) is reporting that it has charged five suspects with murder, including an alleged cop-killer, over the period January 1 to 10 this year.
Jermaine Chambers otherwise called ‘Big Up’, 21-year-old unemployed of August Town Road, Kingston 7 is charged with two counts of murder.
Chambers is accused of the murder of Paul Whyte, District Constable who was assigned to the Half Way Tree Police Station, which occurred on December 20, 2013 in August Town, Kingston 7, and Marlon McKenzie otherwise called ‘Chip Head’, a 24-year-old labourer of August Town, who was fatally shot on November 27, 2012 along Bryce Hill Lane also in Kingston 7.
He is also charged with the shooting injury of a Woman Corporal and a civilian who were injured in the second incident.
Chambers was charged on January 10, 2014 following interviews conducted with his attorney.
Tafari Green otherwise called ‘Scubbs’, 26-year-old, unemployed, of Johns Lane, Kingston was charged with the murder of Dorenton Grant of Hanover Street, Kingston who was shot dead in his yard on November 25, 2013.
Green was charged on January 3, 2013.
Orlando Alrick Trusty, 25-year-old of Balcombe Drive, Kingston 11 was charged with the murder of Carol Service of 440 Drive, Kingston which occurred on August 20, 2012 on Wint Road, Kingston 11 while Service and a friend was walking along the roadway.
Trusty was charged on January 3, 2014.
Richard Cushnie otherwise called ‘Timmi’, 27-year-old, of Queensborough Drive, Kingston 19 was charged for the murder of Merrick Daley, which occurred on November 23, 2013 at Queensborough Drive also in Kingston 19. Daley was killed while standing in the vicinity of a playing field.
Cushine was charged on January 03, 2014.
Ray Anderson otherwise called ‘Pitbull’, 22-year-old of Nelson Street, Kingston 12 was charged for the murder of Kevin Smith, otherwise called ‘Shaggy’ of Bedford Street, Kingston 12 who was gunned down in his community on December 15, 2013.
Anderson was charged after he was pointed out at an identification parade January 10, 2014.
