No verdict next week
KINGSTON, Jamaica — There will be no verdict in the Vybz Kartel murder trial underway in the Home Circuit court downtown Kingston until after next week.
Justice Lennox Campbell had hoped to start his summation of the evidence on Friday because a member of the 11-panel jury would not be available on Thursday.
But the Forewoman Wednesday afternoon informed the court that another member of the panel is scheduled to do surgery and would not be available. The juror said that she would be available next week Thursday, when the judge will then begin his summation.
Meanwhile, defence attorney Tamika Harris completed her address to the jurors Wednesday afternoon by asking them to find her client Andre St John, and all the other accused, not guilty. “You cannot ignore what is rotten in this case. You just cannot wuk wid it. You cannot put on blinkers…,” she said.
Entertainer Vybz Kartel, along with St John, Shawn Campbell, Shane Williams and Kahira Jones are on trial for the August 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, believed committed at Kartel’s Havendale, St Andrew house.
