Cops detain suspects in Dunkirk double killing
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police say they have apprehended four men, two of them suspects in the deadly shootings that took place in the eastern Kingston community of McIntyre Villa on February 14.
Head of East Kingston Division Authur Brown said the men were apprehended during an operation in the Harbour View community.
Police did not release the names of the suspects up to late Friday.
“We believe that two of the four men held are main suspects in shooting in McIntyre Villa,” Brown said
McIntyre Villa, also known as Dunkirk, was the scene of a deadly shooting and a brutal reprisal on Valentine’s Day.
In the initial incident, which occurred about 10:15 pm, a group of residents from Banana Street in the community was having a party when heavily armed gunmen, allegedly from Bryden Street approached and opened gunfire, killing a man and a 17-month-old child.
The police say moments later, men from Banana Street armed themselves and went to Bryden Street where they kicked open a door to a house where a woman lived with her two-month-old baby.
The gunmen allegedly shot the father and the mother in their quest to exact revenge. The baby who apparently was their target, escaped uninjured.
