Cop on murder rap remanded
A police constable accused of extra judicial killings was remanded in the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.
Constable Collis “Chuckie” Brown was arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to murder on January 17.
A report from the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) stated that Corporal Brown is being charged with the murders of Robert “Gutty” Dawkins on January 10, 2009 and Phaebian Dinnal on February 13, 2010.
He is also being charged with the double murder of Andrew Fearon and Dwayne Douglas on December 13, 2012, and wounding with intent of Kenton Hayes and Donald Stewart in 2010 and 2009 respectively.
Constable Brown’s arrest followed the investigations by the Commission on January 16 of last year in Area Three of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, where the May Pen police station was searched.
Several weapons were later recovered.
A preliminary inquiry has been set for June 23, but the Commission stated that they are unable to provide any additional information due to the sensitive nature of the matter.
