Carib Cement worker pleads guilty to stealing cement worth $2.3m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A worker of Carib Cement Company is to be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to stealing $2.3 million worth of cement from his employee.
Maurice Samuels is to be sentenced on April 4 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The date was set on Friday, March 21 after Samuels pleaded guilty to charges of forgery, conspiracy to defraud and larceny as a servant.
Samuels is said to have secured, using fraudulent documents, “72 jumbo bags” of cement on March 10 and 11 in the names H Miller, T McLeish and Wayne Fray.
Samuels was remanded into custody for sentencing and ordered to give his fingerprint to the police.
