CLEON Jones has been interested in music since his years at White Marl Junior High School in St Catherine. Nine years ago, he decided to move from aspirant to professional by establishing what is now Mineral Boss Records.

This studio is situated in the community of Caymanas Bay, near the Mineral Bath off Mandela Highway in

St Catherine.

“Mineral Boss Records is all about positive music and creative talent. It’s a mixture of genres, so we are quite unique in our own way,” Jones said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

The 33-year-old stated that although harnessing home-grown talent is priority for Mineral Boss Records, the company has worked with a number of top acts.

“We have released songs for QQ, Chuck Fenda, Richie Spice, Anthony Cruz, and I- Octane is going to be doing some work with us,” Jones disclosed. “We also put out songs for up-and-coming artistes, such as Burning Kry (who is signed to the label) and Radijah.”

Among the label’s releases are Rasta Govern It by Chuck Fenda and QQ; Babylon Burning by Richie Spice; Little Country Boy by Anthony Cruz; and Scotch Bonnet by Burning Kry who is from Caymanas Bay.

Jones also manages his family’s Nature’s Paradise Restaurant in Caymanas Bay. He says networking with residents is critical to

the eatery and Mineral Boss’ survival.

He plans to make the latter a leading player in an increasingly crowded and competitive dancehall market.

“We want to do videos, produce top-quality music and promote our music to the world,” he said.
