TORONTO-BASED singer Tanya Asaki is making a big push to get her song, I Love You Still, heard in Jamaica.

She is in Jamaica to shoot the video for the single which is written and produced by Bobby Treasure of Treasure Chest Productions.

The ‘riddim’ was built by Stephen McGregor of Big Ship Records.

Born in Ontario to Jamaican parents, Asaki describes her sound as pop/R&B. She is aware of the high level of competition in Jamaican dancehall, especially for women, but is determined to make a mark.

“Female singers will always have challenges in the vastly growing industry we are in, but some of my challenges would be staying consistent and being a positive role model by not allowing negativity to detour me from my passion,” she said.

Asaki has recorded several songs but I Love You Still is her most noted project to date. She also had a big part on an episode of the popular Showtime series, Soul Food, playing back-up singer for R&B singers Kelly Price and Deborah Cox.
