Dreamstar aims for the skies
UP-AND-COMING dancehall artiste Dreamstar is hoping to win dancehall fans with his recent release Money Pon Money.
“Everywhere mi go people seh dem want more money pon money, so mi jus drop a single on dat since a dat wi love,” he told the Splash.
Produced by Protocol, the track was released last week. Dreamstar said the single has already been doing the rounds on the Internet but hopes radio will soon warm up to it.
Dreamstar, whose given name is Andre King, hails from Clarendon and is a past student of Denbigh High School.
The 22-year-old said he draws his inspiration from Vybz Kartel’s lyrical ability and Sean Paul’s style of delivery. This, according to him, has helped him to create a distinct flow.
“I want to fuse both Vybz Kartel and Sean Paul styles in my delivery,” he said.
He is confident that the hooks and lyrics of his tracks will propel him to the front of the dancehall pack.
His strategy is to release two songs per month so fans can appreciate them.
“I want to be recognised not only in my region, but worldwide,” he said.
His other release is If You Can Wine.
