Real Talk from Tasha T
Canada-based reggae singer Tasha T’s second album, Real Talk, was released on April 15 by VP Records.
Tasha T (Natasha Whyte) told Splash that the 17-track set is largely autobiographical.
Among the featured tracks on it are the title song, Bed of Fire, Ethiopia, Inna Di Jungle, Jah Jah Children and Firm Meditation.
Some of the producers who worked on Real Talk are Mikey Bennett, Bobby ‘Bobby Digital’ Dixon, Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton, Syl Gordon and Paul ‘Patchy’ Wright.
The latter produced Bed of Fire which Tasha T says got enthusiastic response in Canada, where she was born to Jamaican parents.
Real Talk is the latest release from the album. Tasha T is also expecting good things for the song.
“Based on the initial feedback, I believe this single is capable of taking me to that next level…it’s a powerful track,” she said.
For Real Talk, Tasha T deliberately went for a homegrown feel. To achieve this, she drew on some of Jamaica’s top producers including Bennett, Dixon and Henton.
“Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae music and this is where you find the best producers and promoters in the reggae music industry. For that very reason, we have used some of the most notable producers for the Real Talk album,” she said.
