Fire razes Georgian building in Falmouth
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — THE Fire Trelawny Division of the Jamaica Fire Brigade is yet to determine the origin of the fire that gutted a two-storey Georgian building in Falmouth on Sunday, leaving damage estimated at $80million.
The structure, situated at the corner of Market and Trelawny Streets, housed a doctor’s office, an art gallery, a clothes store and a book store.
According to reports, when members of the Falmouth Division of the Jamaica Fire Brigade arrived at the scene after they were summoned about 12:37 am, the entire building was engulfed in flames.
Two units from the Falmouth fire station and another from Ironshore, St James, got the blaze under control after an operation which lasted for over six hours.
