Grenadian charged for killing wife in suspected love triangle
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada (CMC) – Police have charged a 32-year-old British man with murdering his wife, after her decomposing body was recovered from a shallow grave on Friday.
Police said that Alexander Clarke has been charged with non-capital murder in connection with the death of his 27-year-old wife Nexann Downes-Clarke. Legal observers say the charge means that he cannot be given the death sentence if found guilty.
Her body was recovered from a shallow grave in Mt Moritz, St George’s, days after she was reported missing.
Earlier, the police said they had also detained “a teenaged female” and Clarke in connection with the disappearance of the woman, raising speculation about a love triangle gone sour.
Clarke is expected to appear in court on Monday, the police said.
