DANCEHALL artiste Vyral is hoping for a chart-topper with his new song, Death Before Dishonour.

According to the singjay, the track — released in May — was inspired by a bad experience he had at a party.

What began as ‘fun’ incident resulted in Vyral being allegedly struck in the head and sustaining a serious injury.

“I received a gun butt which fractured my skull. And as a means of not losing my sanity, I just penned the lyrics to this track,” said the 24-year-old artiste.

The incident is before the courts.

Vyral, whose real name is Dominic Brooks, also produced Death Before Dishonour. He has high hopes for another track, Party Nuh Haffi Shot, which was released in February.

“It’s not a counteraction to Popcaan’s Party Shot. It’s just another summer song that I believe will reach places,” Vyral said.

A Kingston native, Vyral attended St George’s College and attended the University of the West Indies for two years going into music full-time.

In 2010, he released several singles including Outstanding Man, Bad Mind Prayer, Nah Go Si Wi Fail and Shake it.
