World Junior Champs: Mason clocks National junior record in 110m hurdle silver
EUGENE, USA–Tyler Mason ran a Jamaican National Junior Record 13.06 seconds (0.5m/s) to win the silver medal in the men’s 110m hurdles final on Thursday’s third afternoon of the 15th IAAF World Junior Championships at Hayward Field, Oregon.
Mason broke the one year old record 13.24 seconds set by Omar McLeod in March last year as he won Jamaica’s first medal at the Championships and the second male sprint medal ever after Keiron Stewart’s bronze in Poland in 2008.
Both Mason and winner France’s Wilhem Belocian who set a new World Junior Record 12.99 seconds were under the old record of 13.12 seconds set by China’s Liu Xiang in 2002.
