COMMONWEALTH GAMES: Jamaica second in track and field medal tally, Kenya lead
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica, with 16 medals thus far, have been overtaken by Kenya in the tally of medals for track and field events at the XX Commonwealth Games currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland. Kenya’s medal count stands at 18 medals.
Having qualified for the finals in both the women’s and men’s 4x400m and 4x100m relays, Jamaica are expected to earn additional medal when competition on the track resumes at Hampden Park later today.
The Games’ overall medal table is topped by England with 146 medals, followed by Australia in second with 126 and Canada with 75.
On this overall count, Jamaica sit in 10th place with 18 medals made up of seven gold medals, four silver and seven bronze.
